Pigmentation- Diagnosis and Treatment

Pigmentation and Skin discolorations tend to be in dark yellow- brown color. They are  located around the eyes, cheeks and around the mouth.

The main cause of pigmentation is melanin pigment that works uneven and creates stains on the skin.  Pigmentation appears mostly on genetic background, hormonal imbalance, exposure to the sun, and improper metabolism.

Chinese medicine refers to pigmentation as toxicity and blockage of the meridians.

In this lecture I introduce the basic understanding to pigmentation from the Chinese medicine point of view. I explain and demonstrate the ways to diagnose different kinds or pigmentation and how to treat them with acupuncture, herbs and more tools that Chinese medicine has to offer.
